The 2016 Standard Bank Africa Cycle Fair returns this year to St Stithians College in Johannesburg, from Friday 21 October to Sunday 23 October. This year’s Fair stages a number of events for cycling enthusiasts, and also features exhibitors who’ll be displaying the latest cycling and outdoor sports gear, accessories and kit.

Come and measure your power output and endurance, and see how you match up to the professional riders from some of SA’s top road cycling teams.

The ProQuest Watt Challenge runs for the entire weekend. There will be a leader board and prizes for the top outputs across age categories. Even kids can give it a try! Best of all, there’s no fee to participate.

This race for high school teams and cyclists takes place on the St Stithians XCO track, built by legendary MTB trail builder, Neil Evans. There are 5 races, featuring the best up-and-coming young talent South Africa has to offer. This year is the first time that high school riders, who’ve been awarded Provincial colours, will get a chance to show off their mettle and wear their colours before the end of the 2016 season.

High Schools across South Africa have been invited to compete, with prizes for the top performers and medals for all participants. There are 5 races, Under 14s at 09h00, Girls all ages at 10h00, Under 15s at 11h00, Under 16s at 12h00, and Juniors at 13h00. The prize giving ceremony will be after all the tallying is done, around 14h30.

Let your kids improve their mountain biking skills on a specially built short course, with pros on hand to coach them. Come along and find out more about the KidzOnBikes primary schools cycling programme. There’s no additional entry fee, and remember kids under 18 enter the Standard Bank Cycle Fair free of charge.

QHUBEKA RELAY CHALLENGE presented by CycleSure

Watch SA’s top professional riders in a lap race using a Qhubeka Buffalo Bike – or even bring your club, school or corporate team to compete. It’s a team relay and the playing fields will be levelled, with every rider (except children) weighted up to 100kg, including their bike.

The event aims to raise awareness for the Qhubeka Foundation and the exceptional work it does in rural communities. CycleSure is sponsoring 15 Buffalo Bikes with helmets and accessories, and is challenging all pros, clubs, schools and corporate teams to enter.

Corporates: we challenge you to enter now – for each corporate entry of R3200 per 4-rider team, an additional Buffalo Bike will be donated to the Qhubeka Project.
Pro Teams: sign up now with one or more 4-member teams to tackle our specially-created Buffalo Bike course – there’s no entry fee and a prize of R4 000 for the winning Pro team.
Club and School teams: sign up your 8 member team completely free of charge, to win R2 000 for your Club or School.
